Pennsylvania Foundation
The Pennsylvania Foundation was a day nursery and children's refuge in Antwerp. During the Holocaust, it served as a vital transit node for smuggling children out of the city.
Working closely with the clandestine Comité de Défense des Juifs (CDJ), the foundation's staff assisted in smuggling infants and children out of Antwerp to be placed in safer rural areas under false identities. While many children were successfully hidden, others were caught during German raids and inspections.
