Jewish Orphanage (Lange Leemstraat)

The Jewish Orphanage on Lange Leemstraat was a major pre-war orphanage run directly by Antwerp's Jewish community, dedicated to caring for vulnerable children.

During the initial phases of the German occupation, it continued to operate under strict constraints. As the threat of deportations increased, community leaders dispersed the children to rural hideouts or private homes. The orphanage was subsequently closed and seized by German authorities.
