Jongenshuis (Boys' Home)
The Jongenshuis (Boys' Home) on Durletstraat was Antwerp's municipal orphanage for boys. During the German military occupation, it served as a temporary refuge for Jewish boys whose families had been rounded up.
Municipal staff members and local sympathizers coordinated efforts to delay registrations and coordinate with resistance networks. However, on September 21, 1942, the home was raided by German forces. The Jewish boys were arrested, transferred to the Dossin Barracks in Mechelen, and subsequently deported.
